Last year I was invited to co-author a book along with other 200 young leaders from across the globe, each of us representing 201 countries with 201 dreams.

One World in One Book” is a book of dreams and journeys to motivate youth around the world to believe in their dreams and to tackle UN Sustainable Development Goals. The purpose of the book is to create a world where people can learn from one another, but also to demonstrate that dreams are powerful, connected and without borders.

WE HAVE A DREAM: 201 Countries 201 Dreams with Sustainable Development Goals

I’m truly grateful to have been a part of this initiative and represent my country, 🇦🇲 Armenia. The book will be published, launched and distributed globally, anyhow I’m putting here the final copy of my essay.

Nowadays psychologists say that many youngsters don’t have a dream. They relate the concept of a dream to proprietary, physical terms: a new gadget, a trip to an exotic country, a well-paid job.

Dreaming is like hiking a mountain. Even though you are eager to run, reach the destination you desire as fast as possible, you must move forward one step at a time with passion and ambition. Perhaps this is the attitude youngsters are lacking. They don’t strive for anything and it’s because they’ve been given everything. My impression is that they have extreme difculty in finding themselves. That’s why we need to guide young people back into the real world and help them find their own dreams to pursue. I dream of a world where strong-minded individuals come together to create a healthy society that emphasizes an individual’s uniqueness. If we can create that world, I believe we can create change inside people.

The world we have created is the outcome of our thinking process, and it cannot be changed unless our thinking is changed. So, I have started changing the world by changing myself. In other words, I am shaping a better version of myself every day by stepping outside of my comfort zone and challenging myself to keep learning new things. Furthermore, for the past few years I’ve been working as an IT Project Manager on projects for government and international development organizations. These projects are all designed to be effective long-term in order to achieve SDGs. Currently, I’m engaged in the Armenian Energy Sector Liberalization project and on another hand with ongoing development for Result-Based Monitoring and Evaluation Information Management System for the leading development agency in Europe.

I want to change the world for the better. That is my dream, and when shared with someone, its power would be multiplied. In other words, the more people believe in my dream, the more certain it will become a reality. Therefore, going back to where I started, if you suddenly feel that you do not have dreams, I am ready to share with you mine. I am confident that together we can create the future today in order to rise dream tomorrow.
